Quick check: Dial *#06# on your iPhone. If the screen shows an entry labeled EID (in addition to IMEI), your device supports eSIM.
An eSIM is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a cellular plan from your carrier without having to use a physical nano-SIM. To learn if your iOS device is eSIM compatible, follow these steps:
1. Your iPhone must be one of the following models: iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, or any later model running iOS 12.1 or newer.
2. Make sure your device is carrier unlocked:
- Go to Settings > General > About.
- Scroll down to the Carrier lock section.
- It should say “No SIM restrictions” — this means the device is unlocked.
3. Scroll down to find the section labeled Available SIM (on iOS 15 and newer) or Digital SIM (on older versions). If an IMEI number appears under this section, your iPhone supports eSIM.
If an eSIM has already been activated, the SIM IMEI will be displayed in the “eSIM” section.
Note: eSIM on iPhone is not offered in mainland China. In Hong Kong and Macao, eSIM is available only on iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation), and iPhone XS.
